About Neil Craig
Neil Craig has been installing solar PV systems since 2010. Before that, he spent years in the construction industry, managing building projects across the North East and Borders.
He started GMC Solar because he saw that most solar companies either served the domestic market or focused on large-scale solar farms. Nobody was properly serving the mid-size commercial sector — the family farms, food businesses, schools, and estate owners who needed reliable, well-designed solar systems at 10 kW to 150 kW scale.
Neil handles every commercial site survey personally. He climbs ladders, walks roofs, and talks through the options face-to-face. That is intentional. He believes a solar installation is a building project, not a product sale — and building projects need someone on site who knows what they are looking at.

We do the survey ourselves
Neil surveys every commercial project in person. He assesses roof condition, orientation, shading, and existing electrics. No sales rep with a tablet. No remote desktop survey.
We handle the paperwork
DNO applications, MCS certification, building regulations compliance, planning support if needed. You don't need a separate consultant.
We install with our own team
Our installation team is directly employed. Not subcontracted. Not agency staff. We are accountable for every cable clip and every panel clamp.
We are local
Berwick-upon-Tweed based. Working across Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. If there is an issue, Neil is an hour from most sites, not four hours from Manchester.
