Available Funding

  • ECO4 SchemeFully funded solar for eligible households with EPC rating D-G receiving qualifying benefits. Extended to December 2026.
  • Heat Pump + Solar PackageIf you install a heat pump, HES provides up to £7,500 grant plus £1,250 each for solar PV and battery. Rural uplift available.
  • 0% VATAll residential solar is VAT-free until March 2027. Saves around £700 on a typical installation.
  • Smart Export GuaranteeEarn 4-30p per kWh for excess electricity exported to the grid.

Note: the standalone Home Energy Scotland solar PV grant ended in June 2024. Solar is still accessible through ECO4, the Heat Pump + Solar package, and the 0% VAT rate until March 2027.

Public Sector & Commercial Grants

Public sector organisations can access 100% capital grants through the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS), run by Salix Finance. Covers solar PV, heat pumps, LED lighting, and building fabric improvements.

  • PSDS Phase 4£817m total awarded across 207 public sector organisations in 2025. Solar is in scope for NHS trusts, councils, and colleges.
  • Great British Energy Solar Fund£100m for NHS solar (2025). 1,000+ panels installed at Freeman Hospital, Newcastle — £100k/year savings.
  • GB Solar AcceleratorCapital grants for solar on public and commercial buildings.
