Commercial Solar Installer
Northumberland & the Scottish Borders
GMC Solar is the solar division of GMC Developments Ltd — a family-run Berwick building contractor established in 1976. We design, supply and install solar PV systems from 0.5kW to 150kW for commercial, agricultural and public sector clients.
Who We Are
GMC Developments Ltd was founded in 1976 by George M. Craig. What started as a joinery and building contracting business has grown into a full-service construction company with a dedicated solar division, in-house timber frame manufacturing, property management and commercial contracting.
Neil Craig joined the business in 1996 after completing a joinery apprenticeship and a Construction Project Management degree at the University of Edinburgh. He now runs the company. The solar division was launched in 2010, drawing on skills the company already had: roofing, electrical, scaffolding and project management were all in-house capabilities.
We are based at our 9,500 ft² HQ at Ramparts Business Park, Berwick-upon-Tweed — a purpose-built facility housing our head office, joinery workshop and manufacturing operation. From here we cover Northumberland, the Scottish Borders, East Lothian and North Durham.
